Web design for small businesses in the UK
Wolf Tech Agency builds websites and Shopify stores for UK small businesses. We are based in Pakistan and we say so up front, because it is a big part of how we keep our prices fair.
You get a fixed quote in pounds before we start, calls during your working day, and the person who builds your site on the other end of the line. If you are comparing us with an agency down the road, this page should give you what you need to decide.
Who we build for in the UK
Small local businesses
A cafe, an accountant, a dental practice, a dog groomer. You do not need anything clever. You need a site that says what you do, shows where you are and when you are open, and makes it easy to call or book. We keep these simple, and we show you how to change the text and photos yourself.
Trades
Plumbers, electricians, roofers and builders. Your customers are usually on a phone, and often something has already gone wrong. So the phone number goes at the top with a tap-to-call button, followed by the jobs you take on and the areas you cover. Photos of finished work go next, along with your reviews from Google, Checkatrade or Trustpilot if you have them.
Shopify sellers
We set up Shopify stores in pounds, with shipping rates for the couriers you use, such as Royal Mail or Evri, and VAT settings if you are registered. You might only need an affordable Shopify expert for a few fixes rather than a new store, and that is fine too. We work as a collaborator on your account, so you never hand over your password.
Agencies that outsource web development
If you are a UK design or marketing agency and want to outsource web development, we can build from your designs under your name. You keep the client relationship and we stay in the background. Our guide on outsourcing web development to Pakistan covers costs, contracts and time zones.
What a UK business website should include
Some of this is easy to miss, especially if your last site was built from a template. We check for all of it, though the legal wording for your business is your decision.
- Company details. A limited company has to show its registered name, number and registered office on its website. We put these in the footer.
- VAT information. If you are registered, your VAT number should be there too, and your prices should make it clear whether VAT is included.
- Privacy notice and cookie choices. If your site uses analytics or ad tracking, you need to tell visitors and give them a choice. The ICO has free guidance for small organisations.
- A clear returns page, if you sell online. Online buyers in the UK generally have 14 days to cancel, so say how returns work before anyone has to ask.
- Forms that suit UK addresses. Postcode fields that accept real postcodes, and phone fields that take UK numbers.
- A domain in your own name. We help you register your .co.uk or .uk domain in your name, not ours, so you always keep control of it.
Shopify or WordPress?
It depends on what the site is for. If you mainly sell products and want less to look after, go with Shopify. You pay a monthly fee and Shopify handles the hosting and security. If you mainly sell services, or want to own everything on your own hosting, WordPress usually makes more sense, though it needs regular updates.
A roofer does not need Shopify. A skincare brand shipping across the UK probably does not want to spend its evenings updating WooCommerce plugins. We wrote up the differences in WordPress or Shopify. It was written with Pakistani sellers in mind, but the comparison holds. If you are unsure, tell us what you sell and we will recommend one and explain why.
Calls in your working day
We keep five hours a day open for UK calls, across your morning and lunchtime. That is afternoon for us, so your day and ours overlap without anyone staying up late.
| Time of year | UK time | Time in Pakistan |
|---|---|---|
| Winter (GMT) | 9am-2pm | 2pm-7pm |
| Summer (BST) | 9am-2pm | 1pm-6pm |
Pakistan does not change its clocks, so the gap is five hours in winter and four once UK clocks go forward in March. You can reach us by email, on WhatsApp or on a video call, whichever suits you. Our number has a Pakistan code, +92 344 0719099, and WhatsApp messages to it cost nothing extra.
Fixed quotes and invoices in pounds
Before any work starts, you get a fixed quote in GBP that lists what is included. If you ask for something extra later, we tell you the price first and you decide. Invoices are in pounds, and you can pay by bank wire, by Wise (you send from your Wise account to our bank account) or through Payoneer.
Domains, hosting and paid apps are separate, and they stay in your name. Our packages start at £70 for a site of up to five pages, £120 for up to ten pages and £155 for an online store, and you can see what each includes on our pricing page. If you need more than a package covers, tell us what you have in mind and we will reply with a figure.
Getting found on Google in the UK
You will see agencies offering you twenty pages, one for each town you cover, with only the town name changed. Please avoid this. Google calls them doorway pages, and they can do you more harm than good.
What tends to help a small business is one good page for each service, a properly filled-in Google Business Profile if you have premises or visit customers, and a steady flow of real reviews. Links from UK sites also help show Google that you serve the UK, so local suppliers, trade bodies and your chamber of commerce are worth asking. Our SEO service covers all of this, and we will be honest with you that it takes months rather than weeks.

Questions UK clients ask
Is the quote really fixed?
Yes, for everything written in the quote. If you later ask for something that is not in it, we tell you the extra cost first and you decide whether to go ahead. You will not get a surprise invoice at the end.
What support do you offer after the site goes live?
You can come back to the people who built the site for fixes and changes. If you would like us to look after updates and backups on an ongoing basis, ask and we will quote for it in pounds.
Will the site use UK spelling?
Yes. Our own site is written in British English, so you will get colour and organise, prices in pounds and dates with the day first. Forms are set up for UK postcodes and phone numbers.
Why use an overseas team instead of a UK agency?
Cost is the main reason most people look abroad. The trade-off is that we cannot visit your premises, so everything happens on calls, by email and on WhatsApp. If you want someone in the room with you, a local agency will suit you better.
Can you take over my existing website?
Usually, yes. We check how it was built and who holds the domain and hosting logins, then tell you what we found. If your site already ranks on Google, we redirect the old pages so you keep those rankings.
